The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has uncovered the ‘top 20’ driving licence penalty points holders in the UK – revealing that one man from Liverpool has racked up an incredible 45 points, beating the previous record of 42. But what’s truly astonishing about this is that he ‘achieved’ the 45-point tally in just nine months, between 1 October 2012 and 20 June 2013 – and what’s more, he’s apparently still driving. The penalty points were received for eight separate offences, and either failing to disclose the identity of the driver or exceeding the statutory speed limit on a public road.

At the end of 2012 we exclusively revealed the first details of the Koenigsegg One:1, an extreme take on the Agera R and being built in very small numbers. Then, in September last year, we were able to flesh out what the Koenigsegg One:1 would offer after Koenigsegg revealed more details – and it is impressive. The One:1 will come with 1,400 HP and weigh in at just 1400 KG, and that weight includes all fluids and even the weight of an average driver.
The new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (pictured) goes on sale in the UK
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV arrived at the Paris Motor Show in 2012, and although it’s already available in Europe it’s only now going on sale in the UK. And it does offer a compelling package. Mitsubishi say the Outlander PHEV is the most practical vehicle qualifying for the UK’s £5,000 grant for low emission cars, and instead of charging really silly prices for their new plug-in hybrid Mitsubishi have pitched it so buyers pay no more at entry-level (after the grant) than they would for its diesel equivalent.
